Jigging
There are numerous names and sub sets of jig fishing. Speed jigging, Japanese jigging, deep jigging, butterfly jigging, extreme jigging and vertical jigging are some of the many names given to fishing with long jigs. It has seen a phenomenal rise in popularity within Asia, Oceania, Europe and now the US and Africa, but its recent popularity hides the fact that jig fishing is one of the world's oldest fishing techniques using artificial lures. Fish will attack jigs when they are feeding or the jigger will simply get an impulse strike if the jig presentation is right. Jig presentation is improved by working the jig with the rod and the reel.

Yellowfin Tuna (yellowfin, skipjack & bonito)
This is our main target species. Big shoals of tuna move in and out of the Pemba area all year round, and a full house strike from these brutes when you discover their shoal makes for some exciting fishing indeed. Average size tuna taken out is around 10 kg to 20 kg, with some in the 30 kg to 35 kg range coming out every now and then.
Wahoo
Known to achieve speeds of over 70 km/h, these bullet–shaped fish are present all year round with a peak in the early summer months of September to November. In these waters, Wahoo average around 40 lbs, but bigger fish are frequently caught, with the resort’s record standing at 68 lbs.
Dorado
Colourful as a rainbow, this hard fighting fish takes into the air when hooked, providing a breathtaking spectacle. Bulls over 40 lbs are normally caught from September to April, mostly using fast trolling lures. The resort record stands at 61 lbs.
King Mackerel
A very good eating fish, these fish are mostly caught on the reef banks north–east of Medjumbe and off the “Wall”. Average size “cuta” is between 10 kg and 18 kg with some huge specimens of around 25 kg.
