Sailfish
Sailfish fishing in the Pemba outer bay started picking up towards the end of 2004, with good–sized sailfish coming out early in the mornings. Sailfish season is between July and December.
Wahoo
These aquatic missiles are one of our main target species. They are found all year round with peak activity around September towards April. These fish are taken on almost any form of bait - artificial and organic. Our Quirimbas record is a beast of 32 kg.
Dorado
Being a great fighting fish, we target this rainbow coloured acrobat of the sea. Peak season is October to March. It is not strange to have a full house strike from these magnificent fish when you toll past any floating objects, which they seem to favour as a point of ambush.
King Mackerel
A very good eating fish, these fish are mostly caught at our favourite site – ‘One Mile, One mile’. Average size “cuta” is between 10 kg and 18 kg and some big crocodiles around 25 kg.

The area is also very popular for the sheer quantity of its
year round game fishing.
Amongst the most common game fish species are:
- Kingfish (12+ different species)
- Great Barracuda and Sea Pike
- Queen Mackerel (Natal Snoek)
- Queenfish
- Pompano
- Prodigal Son
- Jobfish
- Pemba
- Mecufu
- Kingfish Spot
- Murrebue
- 1mile 1 mile
- Farel
- Quipaco
- PTA Diabo
- Tari River
