Where is Indigo Bay?


Indigo Bay is nestled on the 12 000 ha Bazaruto Island, the biggest and most northerly island of the Bazaruto Archipelago. Situated just north of the Tropic of Capricorn, Bazaruto has been considered one of East Africa’s best, and certainly Mozambique’s, premier sport fishing destinations since the late 50’s when the world–class giant black marlin fisheries were discovered.

Today, it’s not only the magnificent marlin fishing that draws anglers to the area, but also a great winter sailfish run and the year–round quantity and diversity of game fish which are a dream come true for all types of fishermen.


Featured Species


Marlin

Season runs from September to April, with October to December being peak season.

Sailfish

More prolific between mid–May to mid–October.

Wahoo

Are present all year round with a peak in the early summer months of September to November.

Dorado

Also known as mahi–mahi, are normally caught from September to April in warmer waters.

Yellowfin Tuna

In and out of Pemba all year round.

Giant Kingfish

The giant trevally (GT) is present all year round. Resort record at 48kg.

  • 10 Species of kingfish (Caranx & Carangoides family) Bluefin, Yellowtail, Longfin, Big Eye, Brassy, Yellow Spotted, Bludger, Short Fin and Ferdy
  • Skipjack Tuna, Bonito and Kawa Kawa
  • Sharks (world record size Zambezi /Bull, Hammerhead, Tiger, Dusky, Blacktip, Silvertip, etc)
  • Great Barracuda and Sea Pike
  • Queen Mackerel (Natal Snoek)
  • Queenfish (Largemouth / Talang and Needlescale / Fivespotted)
  • Snapper’s
  • African Pompano, Mirrorfish, Lady Fish, Milkfish and Bone Fish
  • Rainbow Runner
  • Prodigal Son
  • Tropedo Scads and Garfish.
  • Green and Rosy Jobfish

Fishing Types: Popper & Plugging


Being a visual and active way of fishing, working poppers and other kinds of surface plugs is undoubtedly one of the most exciting ways of catching some of the toughest fish that swim the Mozambican reefs.

Vamisi and Ibo are two Gulf Craft 31’ft
walk–around Sportfishers, powered by twin 150hp Yamaha outboard engines. They are professionally rigged with state of the art fighting chairs, carbon fibre outrigger’s, downrigger’s, luna tubes, electronics and all other necessary equipment.


Safety Regulation: US Coast Guard MIC–XVA with a cruise speed of ±24 knots and max speed of ±38 knots. These craft can take a maximum of 4 anglers.


Rola is a 24ft Z–craft centre counsel cat, powered by twin 85hp Yamaha outboard engines. She is rigged with electronics, outriggers, fighting chair, required safety equipment and all other necessary equipment. The perfect boat to jig, spin or fly fish from. This craft takes a maximum of 3 anglers.

All our heavy tackle reels are loaded with a Dacron backing and a 200 yard Sufix hi vis monofilament top shoot and Sampo ball bearing swivels.
